Safety & product information
Safety comes first when you shop for your baby. Here's how we approach it, and what we ask of you.
Our approach
- Clear claims only. We don't call products "safe", "non-toxic", "medical grade" or "certified" unless we can show the documents behind it.
- Manufacturer specifications. Sizes, materials and age ranges come from the manufacturer and are shown on each product page.
- Documents on request. Ask for any product's manual, specifications or test information and we'll share what we have.
Sleep
- Follow the American Academy of Pediatrics safe-sleep guidance: place babies on their back, on a firm, flat surface, with no pillows, blankets, bumpers or toys in the crib.
- Pillows, plush toys, hug pillows and blankets in our shop are not for use in a crib or bassinet with a sleeping baby.
- Stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of trying to roll over.
Bath time
- Never leave your child alone in or near water, not even for a moment. Bath seats, tubs and bath supports are not safety devices.
- Check the water with your wrist or elbow; aim for about 100 °F. Temperature indicators are a guide only.
Car seats & strollers
- Don't add pillows, inserts or strap covers to a car seat unless your car-seat manufacturer approves them. Our car-seat accessories are not crash-tested.
- Always use the stroller harness, and don't overload stroller hooks: heavy bags can tip a stroller.
Toys
- Check the age label. Items marked "Not for children under 3" contain small parts.
- Inspect teethers, straps and toys before each use and throw them away at the first sign of damage.
Health products
- Thermometers and nasal aspirators are not a substitute for medical care. If your child seems unwell, call your pediatrician.
